Saved Charts - Complete Guide

Managing Your Chart Collection

Astropractice allows you to save unlimited natal charts for yourself, family, friends, or clients. This guide explains how to save, organize, access, and manage your chart collection.

Privacy Note: All saved charts are private and only visible to you. You must be logged in to save and access charts.

How to Save a Chart

Method 1: Save After Calculation
  1. Calculate a natal chart using Calculate → Horoscope
  2. Review the calculated chart to ensure data is correct
  3. Look for the chart menu below the birth data card
  4. Click Save button
  5. Wait for confirmation message
  6. Chart is now saved to your collection!
Automatic Behavior
  • New chart: If the chart name doesn't exist, a new chart is created
  • Update existing: If a chart with the same name exists, it will be updated with new data
  • Timestamp: The "saved" date/time is recorded automatically
  • Owner tracking: Charts are linked to your user account
Important: Chart names must be unique in your collection. If you save a chart with the same name as an existing one, the old data will be REPLACED with the new data. Use descriptive, unique names for each person (e.g., "John Smith", "Mom", "Client - Jane Doe").

Organizing Your Charts

Best Practices for Chart Names
  • Use clear, descriptive names: "John Smith" not "JS"

  • For clients: "Client - Jane Doe", "Student - Michael Brown"
  • For research: "Celebrity - Einstein", "Historical - Napoleon"
  • For events: "Wedding - My Marriage", "Business - Company Founded"
  • Avoid duplicates: Each name must be unique in your collection
Sorting and Finding Charts

Current sorting: Charts are automatically sorted by save date (newest first)

To find a specific chart:

  • Use your browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F)
  • Search by name, place, or date
  • Recent charts appear at the top of the list
  • In Planetary Hours page, dropdown shows 10 most recent charts

Updating Saved Charts

When you might need to update a chart:

  • Incorrect birth time or date was entered
  • Wrong location was selected
  • DST setting was incorrect
  • Found more accurate birth information
How to update:
  1. Go to Calculate → Horoscope
  2. Enter the exact same name as the chart you want to update
  3. Enter the corrected birth data
  4. Click Calculate
  5. Click Save in the chart menu
  6. System will detect the existing name and UPDATE the chart
  7. Old data is replaced with new data
  8. "Saved" timestamp is updated to current time
Warning: There is no "undo" function. If you accidentally overwrite a chart, you'll need to re-enter the original data. Consider using a slightly different name if you want to keep both versions (e.g., "John Smith" vs "John Smith - Updated").

  • Keep names short but clear: Easy to scan in dropdown lists
  • Use consistent naming: Makes finding charts easier
Data Management
  • Verify data before saving: Check all fields are correct
  • Note rectified times: Add "Rectified" to name if time is estimated
  • Record data sources: Keep notes elsewhere about where data came from
  • Regular cleanup: Review and remove old test charts
  • Backup important data: Keep birth data recorded elsewhere too
Pro Tip: Daily Routine

Start your day with planetary hours:

  1. Login to Astropractice
  2. Go to My Account → Saved Charts
  3. Click PH Today on your own chart
  4. Check which hours are rated "Excellent" (8-10) today
  5. Schedule important activities during those hours
  6. Check transits if you notice unusual moods or events
  7. Repeat daily for optimal timing and self-awareness

Troubleshooting

Possible causes:

  • Not logged in: Charts are private and require login
  • Wrong account: Charts are linked to specific user accounts
  • Charts never saved: Did you click "Save" after calculating?

Solutions: Verify you're logged into the correct account, try recalculating and saving a test chart

Check:

  • Birth time: AM vs PM correct?
  • DST setting: Was DST in effect at birth?
  • Location: Correct city selected? (check coordinates)
  • Date: Day, month, year all correct?

Solution: Recalculate with corrected data and save with same name to update

Unfortunately: There is no undo function for overwritten charts.

Prevention:

  • Always double-check the chart name before saving
  • Use unique, specific names for each person
  • For updates, verify you're updating the correct chart
  • Keep backup records of birth data elsewhere

Recovery: If you have the original birth data, recalculate and save again
